I have spent the last week going through all the images in the rules, checking if they are any good, adjusting them, or simply replacing them with new ones! This is taking a lot longer than I initially thought, but I believe they are about as good as I am going to get them.
Another thing I have been working on is designing and producing the unit cards, and these are taking ages to complete—I have ten pages of them! I am making sure that the background images are as good as possible and fit the actual units they represent. I think they are turning out well. Each unit in the game—infantry, vehicles, and even flyers—will have its own card, providing all the information needed to play, including stats and a wound or damage track.
I have also been double-checking all the Unit Special Cards and Force Support Cards to ensure there are no errors and that they are printing correctly. These cards will add special abilities to the units in your force, or provide some off-board support, like artillery or strikes from low orbit! There are also blank unit cards and a complete points list so you can create your own units to match the figures you have and equip them with the weapons you want—within a few basic restrictions, of course, to keep the game balanced and fair.
The rules are coming in at around 80+ pages, although that includes almost 30 pages of printouts for you to use in your games. The main rules themselves are probably about 22 pages in total, covering everything you need to play the game. Additionally, there are pages that detail all the weapons and units you can use, allowing you to quickly build a force, especially since you can simply use the pre-made unit cards to make things even quicker and easier to start playing.
The one thing that I still need to do is settle on a front cover for the rules… and this I am finding hard to do, I have about three images that I think will make good front covers, but I just can’t decide which one to use 🤔
So, there’s a lot of work and a lot of printing to make sure everything is as it should be, but I am almost there!
I still have at least one more proofread before the final test print, but I am hoping to complete this in the coming week. If all goes to plan, the new rules will be available by the coming weekend.
