New Free Supplement — Stars & Lasers!! In A Galaxy Close To Home…

Bring Your Star Wars: Armada Ships into the Stars & Lasers Universe
I’m excited to announce the release of a brand-new (and completely free!) fan-made supplement for Stars & Lasers!! — “In A Galaxy Close To Home…”
If you’re anything like me, Star Wars and maybe have a few Star Wars: Armada ships sitting on your shelf, maybe gathering a little dust between full games. These ships look too good not to be used more often! So I thought… why not bring them into the world of Stars & Lasers?
This supplement is all about letting you do just that — taking your Armada fleets and dropping them straight into the fast, punchy, cinematic style of Stars & Lasers. It’s designed as a fun side project, a crossover expansion that adds just enough rules to give your Star Destroyers and Rebel cruisers some proper table time — without overcomplicating things or trying to mimic Armada’s full ruleset.
What’s Inside?
The supplement includes everything you need to run full-on Stars & Lasers battles using Armada ships and squadrons:
- Ship Data Cards for 14 major vessels — 7 for the Empire, 7 for the Rebel Alliance — plus a bonus transport. Each card is fully statted out for use with the Stars & Lasers rules system.
- Fighter & Bomber Profiles for seven different squadron types, so you can send in swarms of TIE Fighters or launch devastating Y-Wing bombing runs.
- Command Cards that give your fleet a more tactical edge — boost your engines at a crucial moment, pull off evasive actions, or coordinate your squadrons in a last-ditch attack.
- Defensive Tokens, inspired by the Armada mechanics, to help ships weather incoming fire, redirect damage, or shrug off critical hits.
Everything is designed to plug smoothly into Stars & Lasers — just print out the cards and tokens included at the back of the PDF, grab your Armada minis, and you’re good to go.
What This Is (and What It’s Not)
This is not a clone of Armada. It’s not trying to simulate all of its mechanics or complexity. Instead, this is a celebration of both games — a way to get more life out of your Armada models by using them in a different, faster-paced system that focuses on quick turns, big moments, and cinematic action.
If you enjoy the storytelling potential of Stars & Lasers, this gives you even more options for themed battles, narrative campaigns, or just a one-off fight between your favourite ships. Want to recreate a blockade run, a surprise ambush on an Imperial outpost, or an all-out Rebel fleet assault? Now you can — with a system that won’t take all afternoon to resolve.
Who’s It For?
- Armada players looking for a quick, casual alternative to full Armada rules.
- Stars & Lasers players who want to expand their fleet options or run themed side missions.
- Anyone who has a pile of amazing Star Wars ship models and wants a new way to use them!
And again — it’s completely free. Just download the PDF, print what you need, and blast off into hyperspace.
Final Notes
You will need the Stars & Lasers core rules to use this supplement, as this isn’t a standalone product. But once you’ve got the basics, this expansion is super easy to slot in. Whether you’re running a casual game night, a linked campaign, or just a spontaneous duel in deep space, “In A Galaxy Close To Home…” gives you more options, more flavour, and more fun.
I really hope you enjoy this little side project. It was made purely for fun, with a lot of love for both the Star Wars universe and the Stars & Lasers system. Come on over to my Discord server as I’d love to hear what you think — or see pictures of your Star Destroyers and Rebel cruisers on the table!
