Stars & Lasers: Forbidden Arsenal – Now Available!

After quite a bit of work, I’m pleased to announce that the latest Stars & Lasers supplement, Forbidden Arsenal, is now available!

This supplement started with a simple request from players: they wanted bigger and longer-ranged weapons for their fleets.

Capital Ship Weapons

That request led to the development of a collection of powerful Capital Ship Weapons, with ranges of up to 30″, designed for the largest warships and dreadnoughts in the game.

But while working on the Capital Weapons, the supplement grew into something much more.

The Weapons That Never Were

The second section introduces a collection of Prototype & Experimental Weapons — strange, dangerous and often unpredictable technologies that never made it into regular service.

Some were abandoned projects. Others were secret experiments that never progressed beyond the prototype stage. And some are weapons that perhaps should never have been built in the first place!

These weapons introduce new tactical possibilities, but they also come with their own risks. Experimental technology doesn’t always behave quite the way its designers intended…

Upgrade & Refit Cards

The supplement also introduces Upgrade Cards and Refit Cards, giving players new ways to customise their ships.

Upgrades provide straightforward improvements to a vessel, while Refits allow commanders to make more significant changes — often improving one capability at the expense of another.

The cards are designed to be placed underneath your ship data cards with the pluses and minuses showing, making the additional rules quick and easy to reference during play.

Together, these new systems give players much more freedom to create individual ships and fleets suited to their own play style.

Pay What You Want

For this supplement I’ve decided to try something a little different.

Forbidden Arsenal is available as Pay What You Want on Wargames Vault.

The supplement can be downloaded for free, so everyone has the opportunity to try the new rules. If you enjoy the supplement and would like to support the continued development of Stars & Lasers, you can choose to pay whatever you feel it is worth.

As always, all of the rules in Forbidden Arsenal are optional. You don’t need this supplement to play Stars & Lasers, and you can choose which elements, if any, you want to add to your games.

I’d love to hear what you think of the new weapons, upgrades and refits, and especially to hear about those experimental weapons that inevitably go spectacularly wrong!

“Not every weapon was meant to survive testing.”

Pop over to the Little Wargaming Worlds Discord server where you can follow development, discuss the rules, or just chat with other gamers.
